Chapman, Edward Wynne, Lieutenant, 3rd (Prince of Wales's) Dragoon Guards, eldest son of the late Edward Chapman, of Springbank, New Zealand; born 24 May 1887; educated Christ's College; for some time held commissions as a Lieutenant in the Christchurch Mounted Rifles; came to England in 1909; was attached to the 3rd Dragoon Guards, being gazetted 2nd Lieutenant 27 May 1911, and promoted Lieutenant 26 November following; served with the Expeditionary Force in France and Flanders, and was killed in action near Ypres 17 November 1914. Buried in Ypres Cemetery. He was mentioned in Despatches [London Gazette, 17 February 1915] by F. M. Sir John (now Lord) French, for gallant and distinguished service in the field. He married in 1912, Elvira Maude, 2nd daughter of H. W. Henderson, of Serge Hill, King's Langley, co. Herts, and had a daughter (Patricia Wynne Chapman), born March, 1915.

C., by his wife, Lillias, daughter of William Hartley, of Comlongan, co. Dumfries; born at Edinburgh 25 February 1895; educated Cargilfield Preparatory School, and at Winchester, for which he obtained a Head Master's nomination, and where he was a member of the O. T. C. In 1913 he gained a Classical Scholarship at New College, Oxford; applied for a commission on the outbreak of war; was gazetted 2nd Lieutenant Cameron Highlanders 15 August 1914, and promoted Lieutenant 29 January 1915, served with the Expeditionary Force in France and Flanders from that month, and was killed in action at Richebourg L'Avoué (Battle of Festubert) 09 May following, while leading his platoon under very heavy shell and machine-gun fire, even after he had twice been wounded. A brother officer wrote: "It was a glorious death." He had a brilliant career at Winchester; was head of his House (Mr. G. M. Bell's); also the best scholar of his year in French, and gave the speech in that language on Medal Day in 1912;    unm.

The son of John Cameron and Elizabeth McLaren Cameron was John Norman Cameron. He was baptised in the Titwood church in Glasgow, Lanarkshire, Scotland on 12 October 1907.

Buried in Vermelles Military Cemetery;    unm.

Murdoch Nicolson left Skye to work on a farm in Perthshire. He enlisted in the Highland Light Infantry at Blairgowrie, Perthshire, Scotland in August 1914. Killed in action attacking the German Madagascar Trench with objective of capturing Auchy Alley from German hands. Killed either by gas or shot when over the top.
