David Armstrong and his sister Agnes Armstrong travelled onboard the ship "Cassandra" from Glasgow to Montreal. The departure was on 17 June 1911.

A local Canadian newspaper reported following:
Private D. Armstrong, No. 229384, is suffering from gunshot wounds in the head and leg. He went away with Lieut.-Col. F. J. Murray and before enlisting lived with his sister at 1639 Pacific avenue.
Remark: A 1639, Pacific avenue is existing in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada.
