Private L. Rogers died on 8 August 1918, aged 39. His name is commemorated on the Vimy Memorial. The CWGC on-line database shows his parents as William and Mary Rogers, of New Haven, Victoria County, Nova Scotia. He was born on 12 January 1879 (although 12 January 1878 is stated on his attestation paper) at Rose Blanche, Newfoundland, but his parents moved to Neil's Harbour, Cape Brenton, Nova Scotia in 1888, where his father worked as a fisherman. Luke, too, became a fisherman, and was still single when he enlisted in the "Comp. Battalion" at Halifax on 11 December 1915, shortly before his thirty-eighth birthday.
