CHIEF P. O. John Watt, R. N. R.
KILLED ON ACTIVE SERVICE
Chief Petty Officer John Watt, R. N. R., was killed when the ship on which he was serving was sunk off the West African Coast.
He had been in the Naval Reserve for 18 years and was very well known among the Broch fishermen as Johnny Gordon. Previous to being called up he was Chief Engineer on board the cargo boat Archmoor. During this war he had several narrow escapes but came out unhurt and always ready to carry on.
P. O. Watt was 38 years og age and son of the late Mr. Charles J. Watt, Rosehearty who, it will be recalled, was killed in the Rosehearty mine disaster during the last war. P. O. Watt is survived by his wife and six of a family, who resided at 32, Marconi Road, Fraserburgh.
