Son of Joseph and Margaret Jones.

Joseph met his death in an incident at sea. He was aboard the SS "Transylvania" which had been taken over as a troopship. It was sailing from Marseille to Alexandria in May 1917 with a full complement of troops when it was struck by a torpedo from a German U boat. Ten crew members, 29 army officers and 373 soldiers including Joseph Edward Jones, lost their lives.
