Edward John Axtell's death was also announced in a newspaper.

Weston Turville - The Roll of Honour
The sympathy of the village goes out to Mrs. C. Axtell, who has just received the sad news that her son, Corpl. Edward John Axtell, was killed on March 16 in a bombing raid on a German post.
The deceased joint the Oxford and Bucks L. I. 8½ years ago, and was sent to India two years later. When the war broke out he was ordered back to the Tigris, where after some months' fighting he fell ill with dysentry and malaria fever, and returned back to India. Sent back to England on April 16, 1916, he spent eight months in hospital and was then sent to France, where he met his death, which was instantaneous.
The following letter has been received from his officer: - "Dear Mrs. Axtell, - I rejoined the battalion yesterday after a fortnight's absence, and was most grieved to hear that your son, Corpl. E. Axtell, had been killed. Please accept my very sincere sympathy. Your son met his death in a raid on a German post. His body was recovered and buried. He was one of the bravest men I have ever met, and I had a very great liking and admiration for him. His death is a very great loss to my platoon, and I personally shall miss him greatly. Again expressing my sorrow for you in your great loss, W. Ray Gill, 2nd Lieut."
