Thomas Lamb

I think Thomas was born in Lancaster.

I sent to the fusilier museum in Bury for the records of Thomas Lamb born about 1776.
They didn't have full records but I now know he was enlisted 1796 at 18 as the regiment
marched from Exeter to Preston recruiting as they went. He served for 22 years and had
a small pension. He was at the battle of Egmont - op Zee 1799. He was stationed in Cork
Ireland until 1800 and then went to Gibraltar and Egypt and fought Napolean's army at
Alexandria. They spent 8 years fighting the French in Maida, Italy and returned to
Portsmouth 1807. In 1808 they sailed for Spain with the Duke of Wellingtons army and
fought there until 1814 when they returned to Ireland. He left the Army 1816/17.
On one certificate he is listed as cabinet maker and the baptism of his later children a coach maker.
