John Walker Dickinson Leigh was born in Brotton-in-Cleveland Yorkshire, England on 03 August 1892 and was baptised in the church of St. Margaret in Brotton at the same day. His parents were John Dickinson Leigh and Helena Ann Leigh. He was married to Phyllis Madeline Mary Wait in Coimbatore, Madras, India on 14 March 1929.

Has designed and is now busy instlg. new engines for 3 factories, elec. light instln., overhead carrier for a tea plantation, etc.
