Violet Sellers was born in Portugal on 27 May 1877. Her parents were Frederick William Sellers and Rosinda Jane Custance Sellers, nee Kendall. Her father was a cashier of the London and Brazilian Bank in Lisbon, Portugal. She was married to Henry Morgan Shaw in Oporto, Portugal in 1900. The couple had following children: Sybil Violet (Born 1902), Vera Anita (1903-1990), Auriel Edith (1904-1975), Beryl Margaret (1911-2005), and Mauriel Alice (1913-1967). The family resided at the Portesham-House in Dorchester, Dorset, England in 1939.
