Richard Norman Wiltshire and Nellie Alexander Jones
Newspaper Report - Richard Norman Wiltshire SAID THAT HE WAS SINGLE
"WIFE'S" STORY IN TEESSIDE
BIGAMY-CHARGE

Richard Norman Wiltshire, described as a plater, of Stockton, was charged at Gisborough yesterday with bigamously marrying Nellie Alexander Jones at Southall, Middlesex, on 29 October last, his wife, Annie Wiltshire, being then alive.
Mrs. Wiltshire stated she was married to the defendant at St. Paul's Church, Middlesbrough, on 9 December, 1916, and they had one child. They afterwards lived at Middlesbrough and Stockton. On 8 August last year she was ill, and went to her parent's home at Gisborough. A seperation order was granted to her by the magistrates at Gisborough on 28 September, 1910, her husband being ordered to pay 35s per week towards her maintenance. He was now owing her £98 5s.
Nellie Alexander Jones, of 4, Emsley-rd., Southall, Middlesex, stated that on 29 October, at Southall Parish Church, she was married as (she thought) to Wiltshire. A certificate of the marriage was produced. She met Wiltshire last August at Southall. He was then serving in the R. A. F., and he urged a speedy marriage, saying he would soon be transferred to Egypt. Her mother asked him if he was a married man, and he replied: "I am not but I want to be."
The defendant, who had nothing to say, was committed for trial at York Assizes.
