Remark: Some sources use the name Backie or Backle.

James Baikie was born in Canisbay, Caithness, Scotland on 23 November 1825 and was baptised in Canisbay on 29 December 1825. His parents were Benjamin and Helen Baikie, nee Barnetson. He was married to Catherine Calder in Canisbay, Caithness, Scotland on 24 March 1854.

Catherine Baikie, nee Calder, was born in Dunnet, Caithness, Scotland abt. 1831.

The couple had following children: Jane (1855-1902), Benjamin (1856-1877), Helen (b. 1859), Georgina (b. 1860), Catherine (b. 1862), Jemima (b. 1864), Isabella (1866-1929), John (1868-1885), Magnus (1870-1955), and George (1872-1939).

Benjamin Baikie was born in Canisbay, Caithness, Scotland on 19 October 1856.

John Calder Baikie was born in Canisbay, Caithness, Scotland on 30 June 1868.
