Inscription Stella Blandy
Gravestone inscription

Sister Stella Blandy joined the QAIMNSR in 1912. She served in France, and then was sent to Palestine, from where she was discharged in December 1918.
She died in the flu epidemic at home in January 1919 and now lies next to her brother in Birkdale Cemetery.

QAIMNSR = Queen Alexandra's Imperial Military Nursing Service Reserve

Killed along with five U.S. soldiers and a Canadian soldier when a CH-47 Chinook transport helicopter was shot down by Taliban fighters in Kajaki, Helmand province, Afghanistan on May 30, 2007
