War Memorial - Bridge of Weir, Renfrewshire, Scotland

1914 - 1919 and 1939 - 1945

War Memorial WW I and WW II

Inscription WW I and WW II Inscription Inscription
In loving memory
of the young men of
Bridge of Weir
who made the supreme sacrifice
in the Great Wars
1914-1918 - 1939-1945
erected by the ihabitants.
They whom this monument
commemorates were numbered
among those who at the call
of king and country left all that
was dear to them, endured
hardness, faced danger, and
finally passed out of
the sight of men by the path of duty
and self sacrifice, giving up
their own lives that others
might live in freedom
let those who come after see to it
that their name be not forgotten.
They were men
in the might of their manhood,
or boys in the beauty of youth,
but they held all as dust in the balance
to battle for freedom and truth.
