Central Cemetery - Path of Peace
A path against forgetting

A path of peace has been created on the grounds of the Central Cemetery in Brunswick. It leads to memorials and memorial grounds of the times of 1914 - 1918 and 1933 - 1945. The various points are marked with stones which carry a Ginko leaf. The Ginko leaf is the international symbol of hope for peace. A Ginko leaf was chosen because a Ginko tree was the first plant that grew out of the nuclear contaminated ruins of Hiroshima.

The cross at the entrance to the war graves. Wir gedenken der Toten
die durch Kriege ihr
Leben verloren, weil der
Hass in der Welt mächtiger war
als die Liebe
We remember the dead
who lost their life by wars
because the hate in the world
was more powerful
than the love
The cross at the entrance to the war graves.
