To the glory of God
and in proud and honoured memory of
the men from Chinley Chapel and
neighbourhood, who laid down their lives in
the Great War

"Greater love hath no man than this,
that a man lay down his life for his friends."

Also
in grateful recognition of the efforts of
all the others who served, and whose lives
were mercifully spared.

and in honour of all who served.
