This Memorial
was erected by public subscription raised under a resolution
proposed by the Lord Lieutenant and unanimously passed
by the Magistrates of the County of Buckingham
in quarter sessions assembled in honour of the men of Bucks who
at the Empire's call laid down their lives during the war in South Africa
1899 - 1902

War Memorial - Coombe Hill, Buckinghamshire, England
Coombe Hill monument was erected in 1904 and unveiled at a ceremony held on 4th November in
that year. The monument's original bronze tablet was eventually stolen and was replaced with
one of marble in 1972. As part of a full restoration of the monument this new bronze tablet was
fixed in 2010 and was officially at a dedication ceremony held on 20th October 2010.

The monument erected in 1904
was almost totally destroyed by
lightning on the 29th January 1938
and was rebuilt the same year by
the Bucks County Council.
