of Northcote, Victoria, Australia.

The Benalla Ensign on Friday, 26 November 1943:
Thomas O'Farrell
News was received this week of the death during air operations of Pilot Officer Patrick Thomas O'Farrell, aged 21 years, the only son of Mr. Stewart O'Farrell, of Northcote, and the late Mrs. O'Farrell. Death is reported to have taken place on 22nd Septemober last.
Deceased was born at Casterton, and on the death of his mother, came to live with his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. D. O'Farrell, of Samaria Road, Benalla. He received his early education at the Blind Creek school, and later went to the Northcote High School. Open completion of his schooling, he joined the State Electricity Commission, and when he joined the R.A.A.F. two years ago, he was stationed at the city office. He went through various training schools, and after gaining his wings was sent overseas last May. He was stationed in England, and was over enemy territory on several occasions. It was during one of these flights that he lost his life. He was in charge of a Lancaster bomber. He was the possessor of a happy disposition, and his death at such an early age is greatly regretted.
Much sympathy is felt for his bereaved father, and grandparents, and also for three sisters Kathleen, Joan and Helene, who are left to mourn their loss.
