The American Weekly Mercury, January 14, 1734:

Servant Named John PEARCE Runs Away From His Master, Nathan BEAKES.


Run away, the 26th of this instant December, from Nathan BEAKES of Chester Township
in Burlington County, West New Jersey, a servant man named John PEARCE, about 25 years
of age, and small of stature, had on a light colour'd coat, a red vest, a light colour'd kearsey
pair of breeches and a felt hat. Whosoever takes up the said servant and secures him so that
his Master may have him again, shall have forty shillings as a reward, and reasonable charges,
paid by me, Nathan BEAKES.
N.B. He has lost one of his fore teeth.

Nathan Beakes was born in Nottingham, Burlington, New Jersey, USA on 07 October 1710. His parents were William and Ruth Beakes, nee Stacy. He was married to Elizabeth Hooten in Camden, New Jersey, USA on 08 September 1735 and was married after the death of his first wife to Lydia Morgan in Camden, New Jersey, USA on 02 August 1753. Four children are known: Sarah (1736-1782), Nathan (1754-1831), Hannah (1759-1811), and Lydia (1760-1785). He died in Trenton, Hunterdon, New Jersey, USA on 28 December 1785.

My body to be buried according to the order of friends.
Wife Lydia, £400, which is to be invested, and at her death paid to my 3 younger children. Son, Nathan, my real estate, and £1,200, when he is 21. Daughter, Sarah Bettle, £700. Daughter, Hannah Beakes, £700. Daughter, Lydia Beakes, £700, when 18. Youngest children, Nathan, Hannah and Lydia Beakes, residue. Executors - son, Nathan, my nephew, Stacy Potts, and friend, Isaac Allen. Witnesses - Josiah Appleton Jr., Samuel Appleton, James Hill.
