Sir James Blindell, M. P., Junior Lord of the Treasurey, following a car crash at Stickford, near Boston, Lincs, aged 52. He rose from an errand boy to be managing director of a chain of shoe shops bearing his name.
He became M. P. for Holland-with-Boston in 1929, the first Liberal since war days, and since 1932 had been Chief Whip to the Liberal National Party. He was knighted last year.

James Blindell was born in Hitchin, Hertfordshire, England in 1883. His parents were Richard James Blindell (1855-1940) and Elizabeth Hawkins (1852-1928). He married Eliza Good (1882-1971) in Grimsby, Lincolnshire, England in July 1904 and died in Spilsby, Lincolnshire, England on 10 May 1937. He was father of Ronald James R. Blindell (1905-1969).
