89 Boro, L. I. Soldiers are killed in Action.
Washington, Oct. 20 - The War Department made public today the names of 2,818 soldiers killed in action in the European and Mediterranean areas. The following 89 Brooklyn, Queens and Long Island men are included:

Avril, Pvt., Howard C. - John Avril, father, 443 82d St.

Howard C. Avril was born on 06 June 1916 in Brooklyn, New York. His parents were John Jacob and Mary Avril. Howard C. Avril entered the US Army on 07 March 1943. He fought with the 349th Infantry Regiment, 88th Infantry Division and felt on 16 July 1944 in Italy. He was interred in the Long Island National Cemetery in New York on 24 November 1948.
